Doonbeg Golf Club was opened in 2002, designed by Greg Norman, is a world class golf course combining luxury and links golf. Set on the cliffs high along the coast, Greg Norman himself was stunned by the beauty of the landscape. The ocean is visible from the green, fairway, or tee on 16 of the 18 holes
The layout has a combination of five par 3s and five par 5s – the par 72 course measures 6,885 yards from the Previous tees. The signature hole is the par 3 #14, one of the most interesting short holes in Ireland, there are many great holes on this course, this one is only 111 yards, but reaching the green is harder than it looks.
The Atlantic stretches out beyond the green and the wind will dictate what club you use, I have taken a 4 iron and a pitching wedge on different days! Doonbeg Golf Club lodge is Ireland’s newest premier luxury destination not only for golfers, but for those who want a luxurious vacation.
A mere 45 minute drive from Shannon, the lodge offers a golf shop, fine dining, a pub, a spa and luxury suites.
